In September, Robert and Liz said “I do” surrounded by 10 of their closest friends and the timeless architecture of the D.C. War Memorial. The light glittering through the cherry trees made for a dreamy first look, not to mention breathtaking photos they will treasure forever! This DC War Memorial elopement was so beautiful.
The thing I love most about life as a wedding photographer is bearing witness to the ways each wedding day is unique. How each one is a beautiful reflection of the couple’s personality. For their wedding, Robert and Liz decided to officiate themselves! It added a special intimacy to this small celebration.
After they exchanged rings and shared an emotional first kiss, we took more couple’s photos around the memorial. Then, we piled into our cars and drove to the Columbia Room in Washington, D.C. The space was so cozy and perfect for this wedding day.
There, another dash of Robert and Liz’s personality shined as they served their guests some of the most delicious tacos I’ve ever seen! We slipped away briefly during the reception to take photos in the graffiti-and-ivy-coated back alley. I love the incredible range of images we were able to capture throughout the day!
And this sweet wedding day ended with a few sweet treats! As we were taking our final bridal portraits, a local baker gifted Robert and Liz with beautiful cupcakes! Then, Robert and Liz completed their wedding day with some frozen rosé. What a perfect end to a perfect celebration! Robert and Liz have such a beautiful energy between them, and I loved capturing every moment of their magical, intimate dc war memorial elopement celebration.
