Domonique and Matt decided to have their National Gallery of Art engagement session in August 2021. The National Gallery of Art is my absolute favorite place in DC to have an engagement session. It offers so many options for my clients for backgrounds and everything is all in one place. This National Gallery of Art engagement session started at the triangle sculpture in front of the East Building. This sculpture offers great symmetry to play with as a photographer. Then we made out way into the National Gallery of Art east building. We didn’t need to sign up for a specific time or pass.
We made out way to the light tunnel that connects the East and West buildings. This is probably my favorite location in all of Washington, D.C. for an engagement session. This light tunnel is constantly twinkling which offers so many different kinds of light. We went down the light tunnel and then made our way back. I took two polaroids of Domonique and Matt as they were in the twinkling tunnel.
The National Gallery of Art offers so many different modern backgrounds. Domonique and Matt made their way to the beautiful escalator. I love photographing my couples on this escalator because of the gorgeous lines it has to offer. We walked over to the second floor of the East Building and made our way to the large windows. The windows created such beautiful light on Domonique & Matt’s faces. It almost created some sort of studio light.
When we were inside the National Gallery of Art there were hardly any people walking around. Probably because we went at 10am in the morning. I highly recommend visiting the National Gallery of Art right in the morning and during the week so you don’t have to deal with crowds.
Then, made out way outside of the building. Domonique and Matt ran across the cross walk, which made for some really cute photos of both of them. Right in front of the West Building to the right are some gorgeous vines. I love taking my couples to this spot. It is so gorgeous. It reminds me of Pride and Prejudice. We spent some time in this spot and then we walked over to the beautiful fountains.
