Backyard Lancaster Wedding

The Ephrata House, snuggled into cozy Lancaster, PA, is the name of my grandparents’ old home. Surrounded by rolling fields and endless farms, the Ephrata house is where my family would gather for every holiday. My cousins and I grew up riding bikes to Dairy Queen, playing house in the basement, and racing around the backyard playing flashtag. And on October 10th, 2020, in that very same backyard my cousin, Laura Weber and her husband Henry Gray said their wedding vows. This was such a beautiful Lancaster Wedding. 

As I’m sure you can imagine, this family wedding was particularly meaningful to document. My cousin Meleny helped Laura get ready in the familiar yellow bathroom in the back of the house. I couldn’t help but flash back to this very same bathroom more than a decade ago where my cousins and I used to spend hours in this bathroom doing hair and makeup. 

But the home wasn’t the only part of this wedding day flooded with family history. Laura’s wedding dress was passed down through three generations of our family, from my grandmother to my Aunt Jane and now to Laura. And when my uncle saw her in the dress for the first time? Wow! What an honor it was to document that special scene. And it’s probably no surprise to hear that the happy tears were really flowing. 

The ceremony began with Aunt Peggy on the piano, and when Laura walked down the aisle, Henry’s face lit up with love. Pretty sure my entire family was tearing up. 

After the ceremony, the bridal party and the newlyweds traveled to the Ephrata Cloister for photos. The old historic buildings and stone walls made the perfect backdrop as Laura and Henry ambled around the Cloister. My favorite moment was watching how fun Laura and Henry had taking their couple photos. 

Laura and Henry’s wedding was filled with so much love, history, and memories. It meant so much to my entire family, and I am so beyond grateful I was able to capture such a magical day and a family wedding. So happy to share these photographs on the blog today!
